Friends of the Ledges is dedicated to the stewardship of climbing areas and preserving the tradition of climbing in the eastern White Mountains of New Hampshire and Maine. The organization is led by a board of directors and a group of active volunteers who focus on two key priorities: (1) maintaining access to climbing areas by behind-the-scenes work with landowners, land managers, and other user groups; and (2) active stewardship of climbing areas by replacing aging bolts, maintaining and improving trails, and organizing cliff clean-ups.

Climbers from around New England and beyond get involved and show their support by becoming annual members and volunteering for stewardship projects.

Friends of the Ledges hosts one annual membership meeting per year and quarterly meetings of the Board of Directors, held either via Zoom or upstairs at I.M.E. in North Conway. The organization leads several stewardship events throughout the year, including a "spring cleaning" cliff clean-up at Cathedral and Whitehorse at the end of May or early June, and a series of "Stewardship Saturdays" during the climbing season. Check out the events page and our social media for more information about upcoming events.
